Here is breaking news out of Charlotte:
Volatile wide receiver Steve Smith has been suspended for two games this upcoming season, for his involvement in a training camp melee with cornerback Ken Lucas. Lucas had originally been reported to have a swollen left eye, with a large gash underneath; now he’s been updated to also have a broken nose, as well.
Coach John Fox is hoping that no lingering effects will remain with Smith and Lucas, as well as with the rest of the team. Fox mainly addressed this after practice yesterday, stating that absolutely no
retaliation from any player would be permitted.
Both Lucas and Smith were absent today from the Panthers’ annual fan appreciation day at Bank of America Stadium. “Fan Fest” features many events for fans young and old alike, including a scrimmage with full-contact plays; however, this year the Panthers are missing at least eleven players for the practice, and Fox scaled back the contact from four periods to three.
