Talks in Stall Mode Between Burress and Giants

Sources say that talks between Giants WR Plaxico Burress and the team are going nowhere, and the situation is not going to get resolved anytime soon. The Newark Star-Ledger reports that while talks are ongoing, the sides may soon break off talks becuase of the lack of progress between Burress’ agent Drew Rosenhaus and the team. The sides are still far apart according to the report today.

Burress still has three seasons left on his deal, but wants a hefty upgrade to about $9 mil per season. Right now he is not practicing with the team, but says that is due to an ankle injury, not the fact he’s not happy with the money he’s making. “I’m going to move on from that,” he said on Monday about having a new deal by now. “I’m just going to go out and keep being consistent and take my game to the next level, try to be great week-in and week-out.”

It will be interesting to see if the Burress saga continues into the season, or if the sides quickly come to common ground as the season nears and Burress’ ankle quickly heals.
