Former NFL Kicker Charged With Rape In Los Angeles

A former pro-football kicker with the Los Angeles Rams, and other NFL teams, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of drugging a female patron at his popular Pomona sports bar and then raping her.  Tony Zendejas is charged with one felony count each of rape by use of drugs, rape of an unconscious person, sodomy by anesthesia or controlled substance and sodomy of an unconscious person.

The felony complaint also alleges he caused great bodily injury.  Zendejas retired in 1995 after playing 10 seasons with the Rams, Houston Oilers, Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers.  He was arrested early this morning at his Yorba Linda, California home by L.A. County Sheriff’s detectives.  Zendejas faces up to 15 years in state prison if convicted of all charges.  He is being held on 260-thousand-dollars bail.
