Bucs QB Chris Simms is taking a stand against the team that he feels is dissing him. Simms is not at Buccaneers mandatory mini-camp, a move that does not come as much of a shock considering he had said his chances of being there were “50-50.” Simms has been talking about “being a hostage,” and how the team is not treating him right by keeping him on the team when he and they knows he’s not going to play in 2008.
The Tampa Tribune is reporting that Simms can be fined up to $8,000 per day for missing workouts, which runs through Thursday. The total for skipping training camp gets even more expensive, as he would face a fine of $14,000 per day. While Simms has already said that if he’s on the roster come July he’ll be at training camp, he would love to get his walking papers so he can move on and continue his career elsewhere.
