One good season for the up and coming Bronws evidently is enough for tight end Kellen Winslow to feel that he does not need to be at Browns OTA’s. The workouts are not mandatory, but most of the vets on the Browns were at the workouts, and we all know how teams feel these days about OTA’s, and while they are not mandatory, it shows good faith for players to be there.
The big question about Winslow has been if he will show up when it’s for real, as there has already been talk of him holding out for a contract extension. There was talk after the season that the TE wanted more money, and that he will hold out till he gets an extension. Last season Winslow caught 82 passes for 1106 yards and five TD’s for the Browns, who went 10-6 and missed the playoffs by a tie-breaker.
As far as head coach Romeo Crennel is concerned, he does not know that the deal is with the former first round pick who missed a whole season due to a motorcycle accident he caused on his own. “When he gets here, we’ll find out for sure exactly what that is,” said Crennel. “He’s not here and I haven’t spoken with him, so when he gets here I’ll be able to answer that question.”
