Pat Tillman’s mother still doesn’t feel that she knows the whole story surrounding her son’s death while fighting with the Army Rangers in Afghanistan. Mary Tillman appeared on CBS’ “60 Minutes” and said when she first was told the former NFL player was killed in a friendly fire incident, she felt terrible for the other soldiers involved.
Mary Tillman says when the Army first told her that Pat was killed by enemy fighters, the story sounded, quote, “contrived.” About a month later, the Army determined Tillman was killed by friendly fire and the family was informed five weeks after his death. After several investigations, approximately a dozen Rangers and commanders were disciplined for their part in disseminating misinformation about Pat Tillman’s death.
