For those who just can’t get enough of the NFL during Super Bowl week, another show is being planned to wet your NFL appetite.
According to Sports Business Journal, the league is planning a 60- to 90-minute show that would air the Friday prior to the Super Bowl on whichever channel has broadcast rights to the big game.
The live program’s main purpose is to announce a litany of regular season individual awards, possibly including the Pepsi Rookie of the Year, the Motorola Coach of the Year and the FedEx Air and Ground Players of the Year. The NFL hopes that the corporate sponsors for these awards and will buy a large share of the advertising before, during and after the television show. NBC has the option to produce and broadcast the show in Tampa Bay next year.
Musical acts will also be recruited to complement the awards announcements. This entire show is thought of as a way to officially kick off Super Bowl weekend.
