Would Favre Return if The Pack Had Injuries?

Favre

As I said back the day it was announced – I would not be shocked one bit if Bret Farve is back. Now that some time has passed and Favre has had an opportunity to sit back and smell the flowers, there is already talk by Bret about – you guessed it – being available to play again. The circumstances of him playing again seems to be if the Packers have a variety of injuries that require them to come calling. The gamer that Farve is though, is not about to pass up that opportunity.

“It would be hard to pass up, I guess,” he told the Biloxi (Miss.) Sun Herald. “But three months from now, say that presents itself, I may say, you know what, I’m so glad I made that decision. I’m feel very comfortable in what I’m doing and my decision. Yeah, I can probably be up there doing that and playing, but again, I don’t know. It’s only speculating. I think the world of that team. I had a lot of fun, not only this year, but over my career.”

Now if Bret was totally comfortable with his newly found life away from the game, why for one minute would he ALREADY be talking about the “what ifs” of his return? Farve has been in the news a lot as of late, as there has been plenty of talk about him coming back, but for now, he’s playing it off rather well despite what seems to be a desire to be on the field again.

“I’m sure mentally, I would be refreshed. I’d be away from it for a long time. But mentally versus physically, the last thing I’d want to do is go up and it’s ‘Oh this is great’ and all that stuff and me be excited and then just flop,” Favre said to the paper. There’s the old saying that where there’s smoke, there’s fire. And with Favre, it seems like there is already plenty of smoke coming from the chimney. Stay tuned.
