Cincinnati Not Willing to Let This Cat Out of the Bag

Cincinnati Bengals All-Pro receiver Chad Johnson skipped the start of off season workouts today. This is just the latest in a string of actions by Johnson, who is attempting to force the hand of the Bengals organization.

Chad is making no secret of the fact he would like to leave the jungle. Ocho Cinco became bitter late last season after learning of local reporters making a connection between his selfish play and the teams struggles. The Cincinnati Bengals have repeatedly stated they have no intentions of trading away there star wide reciever.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis addressed the issue with the team on Monday. “What I addressed is that in the NFL there are a lot of different situations, and they are not a bearing on any one particular player.” Coach Lewis later went on to say ” This is professional football. You have to deal with it in your own way.”

The Bengals have remained strong in there stance on Johnson, but one has to believe the Bengals are optimistic that Johnson will not only play but play well. This situation is one to watch as this could be a long holdout. Don’t expect to see the Bengals making any deals that would set Johnson free, The cap hit would be a bitter pill to swallow. Johnson is set to make $3 million in salary in the 2008 season, and has 4 years left on his contract witch is worth over $18 million.
