It looks like the Jets have learned their lesson after last years disaster after Pete Kendell, and now they are trying behind the scenes to work out a deal with wide out Laveranues Coles. Today’s Newark Star-Ledger is reporting that the the sides are trying to work out a deal that would have the wide out come to the teams voluntary offseason workouts, which is something that Coles wouldn’t likely do with his current contract the way it is.
The paper says its unknown what type of deal that Coles and the team are working out, but that the person who told the paper the story says its a “win-win for both sides.” Coles is looking for a long-term deal, as he came out earlier and said that the team had promised him that he would get a new deal this season that would likely keep him as a Jet for the rest of his career. With the Jets going full out with the pickup of numerous free agents, it would be best for the team to give him a new deal to keep harmony in the locker room and on the field.
