The Raiders continue to grab wide outs on the market, as after signing Javon Walker to a large deal, the team has reportedly agreed to terms with free agent receiver Drew Carter. Adam Schefter of NFL Network reported the deal late Wednesday, the deal reports say is worth $2 over one season.
Carter was formally with the Carolina Panthers, and last season started seven games, catching 38 balls for 517 yards and four TD’s, all of which were career highs. The Solon, OH native was drafted out of Ohio State by the Panthers in the 5th round back in 2004. He is known as a burner, but his longest grab ever with the Panthers was for just 49 yards, coming last season.
The Raiders now have a wide out core that includes Walker, Ronald Curry (55 catches 717 yards and 4 TD’s in 2007), Carter, and little known and used receivers Chris McFoy and Johnnie Lee Higgins. The team still may take a long look at upgrading this slot in the upcoming draft.
Yeah! JaMarcus can’t overthrow this guy haha, but Carter’s gotta catch fast balls now!
