Probably the last thing that either Jared Lorenzen or Anthony Wright needed to hear was that another quarterback would join the New York Giants’ fold; according to SportsTicker, the Giants on Wednesday signed QB David Carr to serve as Eli Manning’s backup. Carr spent last season with the Carolina Panthers, playing in just 6 games, completing 53.7% of his passes for 635 yards with 3 touchdowns and 5 interceptions; he was eventually beat out of the Panthers’ starting QB job by Vinny Testaverde and Matt Moore.
With the Giants, Carr will be reunited with quarterbacks coach Chris Palmer, his offensive coordinator during Carr’s first 4 years with the Houston Texans. With Carr’s acquisition, you can expect either Lorenzen or Wright to be released as the team will not keep 4 quarterbacks.
