The St. Louis Rams feel they have solidified their quarterback position today by signing former Ram Trent Green. The 3-year deal is reported to be worth $8.9 million dollars that included a $2.1 million dollar signing bonus and a $900,000 roster bonus.
One question for our readers, who were the Rams bidding against?
Green once a very good QB in the league is a shell of the player he once was. He ended last season in Miami on injured reserve after suffering his second concussion in just 13 months. Miraculously there were doctors that actually cleared Green to play again just over two weeks ago. According to reports that I am sure his agent had nothing to do with there were a handful of teams interested in acquiring his services including the New Orleans Saints.
Green will get to play for his former offensive coordinator from his Kansas City days, Al Saunders.
Green had reportedly been pondering a return over the past week before signing today with the Rams and Head Coach Scott Linehan is glad to have him. “We have now solidified our quarterback position,” coach Scott Linehan said. “You will be hard-pressed to find the quality we have at that position.”
Just wondering – 3 years, almost $9 M? The Rams better hope that Bulger stays healthy, because I don’t like the prospect of Green behind center…but that’s just me, I guess.
I agree Rhodes, Green’s three years blows my mind. Why not one and retire? He better keep his head up.
Hopefully we don’t have to start Trent for too many games. Experience is good but the injuries scare me.
