The New York Jets are continuing to raid the free agent market, as the team today signed linebacker Calvin Pace, this after it seemed he was going to sign with the rival Miami Dolphins. Len Pasquarelli of ESPN is reporting that Pace has signed a six-year deal worth $42 million. The deal includes a signing bonus of $22 mil and $22 million in total guarantees.
Pace last season played in all 16 games with the Cards, putting up 98 total tackles with 6.5 sacks, and one pick for 14 yards. In Pace’s career, he’s played in 67 career games with 186 career tackles with 14 sacks and 1 pick. He will likely line up as an outside LB in the Jets 3-4 system. At 6-4, 270, he has enough speed to make an impact, but it will be interesting to see if he can do enough to improve the team from their 29th ranking in defense, and last against the run.
