Samuel Looking for 10 Year Deal Worth $100 Million

It looks as if Pats free agent corner to be Asante Samuel is not only looking for a big free agent deal, he’s looking for a HUGE free agent deal. That is if you believe today’s Boston Herald, which says that Samuel is looking for a deal that is something in the range of 10 years at $100 million, with $30 million guaranteed up front. The deal would be bigger than that of last years mega deal that went to corner Nate Clements to sign with San Fran, as he got 8 years at $80 million with $22 mil up front.

Samuel has said he’d like to stay with the Pats, but his rep – Alonzo Shavers, seems to say that money will in the end be the number one factor for his client. “Whoever throws the most money is always a good thing,” said Shavers. “That’s obviously one of the determining factors. But there will be more factored in. Asante has a list of things that are important to him, things he’d like.”

So what teams still have their eyes on Samuel? How about the Cleveland Browns? Yes, Browns head coach Romeo Crennel said on Friday that there is “a possibility” that they would look at Samuel. “He’s got a knack for intercepting balls. That’s the biggest thing he has going for him. That makes him one of the better players in the NFL,” Crennel said of Samuel.

The Jets are also on the list, as is the Dolphins. The Texans could use corner help as well, and Dallas, despite getting Zach Thomas earlier today, could use Samuel as well. Get out those checkbooks owners, you’d better have plenty of savings in your accounts if you plan on making at legit run at Samuel.
