The next big thing on the NFL docket will be free agency, which kicks off in just over three weeks. There are plenty of players out there that will be on the open market, but some may never get there, as they may get the Franchise tag, meaning that unless a team wants to give up two number one picks, that player will stay with the team they are already on. Teams can start to sign players to the Franchise tag tomorrow, and it concludes on the 21st.
Adam Schefter of NFL Network has already put out a list of players that very well may get the franchise tag placed on them. It will then be up to the player to sign that tag, or play hardball and sit out. Here are the players that Schefter thinks will see the franchsie tag sometime in the next three weeks:
Cardinals linebacker Karlos Dansby
Panthers tackle Jordan Gross
Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha
Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth
Patriots receiver Randy Moss
Seahawks cornerback Marcus Trufant.
Chiefs defensive end Jared Allen
Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs
Look for teams to try and work out long term deals with these players before they for sure put the franchsie tag on them, as reports say that the Titans were already talking to Haynesworth about signing a multi-year deal. As far as the rest, it will be interesting to see if they get peeved that they have been franchised, which is usually the case.
