Did the Redskins have a secret meeting with USC head coach Pete Carroll? That’s what NFL Network reporter Adam Schefter is reporting, as he stated Sunday that the Skins and Carroll had a meeting in St.Louis. Schefter didn’t elaborate if the meeting was anything more than them asking Carroll if he was interested in their open coaching position, or if it was acutally an interview for the position.
There also is the question on how much money owner Daniel Snyder would offer for such a guy like Carroll, who has already had two NFL go-around’s as a head coach. Carroll was also being courted by the Falcons, but instead they put their efforts and eventually landed Jaguars defensive coordinator Mike Smith as their new head coach just this past week. Another note is that the Skins don’t want to give total control to one person, and that appears to what Carroll would want upon coming back to the NFL.
The Skins coaching search seems to be going round and round at this point. From Joe Gibbs leaving, to Jim Mora Jr., taking himself out of consideration, to Jim Fassel coming to the forefront of the search. Then, after giving him four interviews, the team fired defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, and also now have fired offensive coordinator Al Saunders. So what’s next for the Skins? That’s anyones guess.
