At the rate that New England Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork is being fined by the National Football League, perhaps he and the league should establish a Paypal account. According to the Boston Globe, the NFL has fined Wilfork $5,000 for unneccesary roughness in last week’s game against the San Diego Chargers; the fine was assessed after Wilfork had grabbed the facemask of Chargers running back Michael Turner in the first quarter.
As was expected, Wilfork said he plans to appeal the fine, adding, “It’s bad because you go out there and you get a penalty and the first thing you say is, ‘Am I going to get fined?’ It’s ridiculous. Anything you do that’s a penalty, it’s a fine. I don’t think the game should be like that, but the NFL makes the rules and we have to abide by them.”
