Kiffin Wants Out as Raiders Coach; Davis Does as Well

Let the saga continue. It’s been an ongoing back and forth for about the last three weeks about the rumored tension between Raiders current coach Lane Kiffin and owner Al Davis. The reports have been that Kiffin is not happy about not being able to fire defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, who will be back with the team in 2008, and there was even a report that Davis wanted to can Kiffin for various reasons like that of wanting to get rid of Ryan.

Now another NFL insider says that both Kiffin and Davis are on the outs, that being Adam Schefter of NFL Network. Schefter said on 790 The Ticket in South Florida that Kiffin wants out of Oakland, and that Davis wants him out. So what gives? Schefter says that neither party is going public with their wishes, but the tension is still very much there, to the point where at some point it’s going to come out.

Kiffin still has two years left on his contract, and at the Senior Bowl this week he came out (as did Ryan) and said that the two are back on the same page with Ryan coming back to the team and that there is no issues between the two. Yeah right. This can only end badly for the Raiders, and will likely end in the next few weeks with the reports of Kiffin wanting out becoming public, Davis giving him a buyout, and Ryan, who the players love, becoming the teams new head coach.
