Tuck Breaks the Giants Bank on Five-Year Deal Worth $30 Mil

Tuck (91)

A star that has emerged in the Giants defense this season has gotten a bit richer. The Newark Star-Ledger is reporting that defensive end Justin Tuck has agreed to terms with the club on a five-year extension worth $30 million that will keep him a member of the Giants though the 2013 season. The contract is also got $16 million locked in with guaranteed money. The 3rd round pick of the Giants from 2005 has had a breakout season, while not even being a starter, as the put up 10 sacks for minus 61 yards, 48 solo tackles and 65 total.

Tuck last season played in just six games, making just 10 total tackles. The defensive end is expected to be the main pass rusher in the Giants defense if he’s not already, as reports are he will take the spot of Michael Strahan when he retires, next year or whenever. Tuck plays both end spots in the teams defense in pass-rush situations. The former Note Dame standout started just two games this year, but next season will likely be in the lineup full-time with a lot more green in his pocket.

  1. Wow, they must really rate this guy. He did have a good season though, 10 sacks isn’t bad!

Yeah I can see him replacing Strahan. He will probably retire sooner rather than later. He is 36 now I think, and no doubt he will continue earning money through more advertising purposes.

Definitely a good bit of business for Tuck and also for NYG.

Another Reason why the New York GIANTS Pass Rush and DL is one the best, if not The BEST In the NFL.

Tuck slipped all the way down to the 3rd round in ’05 and has always had the talent since coming outta ND.

He finally got his chance to shine and the PT needed to put up big #s. He resembles Mark Anderson a bit and reminds me of this Chicago BEAR DE.

It’s always good to have a “FRESH” DE ready to sub in on passing downs and you could move Strahan over to DT because he’s so strong and good against stopping the run. A DL of Osi & Justin on the outside rushing off the edge and Strahan & either Robbins or Cofield coming through up the middle! Now that’s a DL the Packers will have to contain in order to win!
