Cowboys Retain Garrett

Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett
I suppose that this is not exactly surprising to most folks who have been following the Jason Garrett situation, but ESPN’s Ed Werder is reporting that the Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator has decided to remain in Dallas for 2008 and beyond. Cowboys head coach has been informed of Garrett’s decision, and Garrett has informed the Baltimore Ravens and Atlanta Falcons of this intent, as well.

Sources familiar with the situation told ESPN that Garrett met with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones Wednesday; my best guess is that Garrett will receive an appreciable bump in pay and the promise of being the Cowboys head coach – which for all intents and purposes makes current head coach Wade Phillips a lame duck coach. Which is unfortunate, because of the Cowboys losing in the playoffs despite their 13-3 record.
