Seahawks End Streaking Redskins Season

Landry looks on with sadness

For a brief moment in the Fourth Quarter it looked as though the Redskins would have the win. It would have been an epic fourth quarter melt down for the Seattle Seahawks, and in fact it still may have been just that, if not for the fourth quarter come back turned meltdown by the Redskins.

For three quarters it looked as though the Seattle Seahawks would beat the Washington Redskins in a low scoring game. The Seahawks were able to put up 7 points in the first quarter with a 17 yard TD run by Leonard Weaver. They would hit a field goal before the half to gain a 10-0 lead at the half.

The Seattle Seahawks would gain just one more field goal in the third quarter to put the score at 13-0 going into the fourth quarter. Just when the game looked as though it would be all Seahawks, the Redskins would put up 14 points in a span of two minutes to give themselves a 14-13 lead. Matt Hasselbeck would throw an interception and the game looked as though it were going to be lost. Th Washington Redskins drive would stall, however, and a field goal missed to give the Seahawks a chance to regain the lead.

Matt Hasselbeck would respond quickly with a 20 yard TD pass in the fourth quarter to DJ Hackett and then followed it up with a two yard pass to Marcus Pollard for a 2 point conversion. The score gave the Seahawks a 21-14 lead over the Washington Redskins, but they weren’t done there. Todd Collins after playing nearly flawless for the last three games threw his first two interceptions of the season both ran back for Touch Downs. The first interception was taken 78 yards for the Touchdown by Marcus Trufant. Than with 27 seconds left to play Jordan Babineaux returned an interception for 57 yards and the Touchdown.

The Washington Redskins played well above expectations after the death of Safety Sean Taylor, and this game was no exception. The Redskins defense played well for most of the game to keep the Redskins’ hope alive, but in the end it would be the Seattle Seahawks’ poise and their 12th man that would give the team a chance for another game.
