Week 17 Preview: San Francisco at Cleveland

Jamal Lewis leads the Browns

As we all know, the Browns blew their opportunity to clinch a playoff spot last Sunday. Their fate now sits in the hands of Tennessee and Indianapolis. Tennessee loses and we are in. I originally heard that Dungy was going to rest his starters, but the players were angry because they wanted to play. Latest rumor is they’re going to play a half. Go Colts.

San Fran is playing decent ball now so we can’t take them lightly. The Browns can make it 7 in a row at home with a win which will also give them 10 wins for the regular season. A team best since the rebirth.

Edwards has already set a franchise record with 14 TD catches this year. He’s 2nd this year (15) behind Randy Moss (21) for TD catches for the NFL best. The Browns have outscored the 49ers … 382 – 212. They have rushed for more TD’s .. 13 – 8. They have caught more TD’s .. 28 – 14. Kicked more FG’s .. 24 – 18. The Browns are 6th in scoring as a team while the 49ers are dead last.

Defense is another story. The Browns have given up 375 points to 344 for SF. Browns have given up 1960 rushing yds to 1733 for SF. The Browns have given up 3608 passing yds to 3448 for SF. The Browns give up an average of 25 points a game to 22.9 for SF. And the Browns have given up a total of 5568 yds to 5181 for SF. We did climb up one spot in overall defense. We now have the 31st worst defense.

I say we will beat SF, but then, we have to sit and wait to see if Indianapolis beats Tennessee. If Indy wins, its time to get out your “dawg bones”, Browns jerseys, portable grills, oil your recliners, stock up on beverages and subs and get ready for the PLAYOFFS !!!!!
