Can They Do It; Can They Go Undefeated?

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (12) answers reporter's questions during a media availability in front of his locker at the NFL football team's facility in Foxborough, Mass

They have one of the best records in the league, only one other team can say they are undefeated at this point. They have had a history of success through the years, culminated with setting new records. Can they set a new one by being the first team since the ’72 Miami Dolphins to go undefeated? No, I am not talking about the New England Patriots. While they are having an impressive season, I don’t find it quite as impressive as what the Colts have done this season, and for the last several seasons for that matter.

The New England Patriots have astonished and amazed most analyst so far this season, yet the Colts are undefeated so far as well, and against more formidable opponents. While everyone’s eyes have been on the Patriots so far this season, the Colts have once again put together another impressive start to a season. Hasn’t it been three of the last four seasons that people were questioning whether or not the Colts were going to threaten the 72 Dolphins’ undefeated record in a longer season? They have been so close to it over the years that the former players of the Dolphins could likely feel them breathing down their necks. Yet each year they were thwarted. Wouldn’t it be appropriate with all the talk surrounding New England that the Colts manage to sweep under the radars to finally get that undefeated record?

New England has been exceptional so far this season, against mostly below average teams. So far the Patriots have only faced one team with a winning record and one that is now currently at .500. The Colts, however, have beaten the Jaguars, the Titans, and that expansion team that has been trying to emerge to at least worthy adversary level, the Houston Texans. That’s in just the Colts division alone. So far the Colts have proven they are still a contender, and while most are calling New England the team to beat, I’d like to remind everyone just who the defending champions are. Allow me to introduce you, if you haven’t met, to the Indianapolis Colts!
