NFL Winners and Losers – Week 6

Porter

Lots of interesting storylines to the NFL In week 6, and here we are back again with another edition of winners and losers:

Winner
——–

Adrian Peterson RB Vikings – You gotta love the chip on the shoulder that this young man is playing on right now. The Vikings back tore up the Bears secondary, and he showed why a few teams should not have passed him up in this past April’s Draft. Sure it’s early in his career and there’s always a shot he’ll get hurt, but right now with 607 yards and 4 TD’s in his first five games, he looks like the real deal.

Loser
——

Kurt Warner QB Cardinals – This is a tough one. Warner is a great guy, has been a solid pro, and is a good human being. But with that said, it looks as if he just can’t catch a break. Sunday, in his 2007 starting debut with the Cards, Warner went down with an elbow injury, and now reports today say he may miss a few games or more with torn ligaments in his elbow. It’s a tough break for a guy that deserves a shot to see what he can do in the limelight of his career.

Winner
——–

LaDainian Tomlinson RB Chargers – If your a Raiders fan, he’s your worst enemy, but there’s no doubting that L.T. loves when the black and silver come to town. Over 1,600 career rushing yards and 12 TD’s against the Raiders, including close to 200 rushing and 4 TD’s on Sunday. It finally looks as if Norv Turner and the Chargers coaching staff is getting it – give L.T. the ball, and give it to him a lot.

Loser
——-

Joey Porter LB Dolphins – An aging, overrated linebacker who simply can’t keep his mouth shut, Porter finally admitted after he and his defense allowed 41 points to the Browns Sunday that what he’s going through is “humbling.” What Joey might want to remember is by opening his mouth every week, it does nothing but incite the other team that is playing the lowely Dolphins to come out fired up, such as the Browns did Sunday. Face it Joey – your not with Pittsburgh anymore, and these are the soft Dolphins your with, not the hard-nosed Steelers.

Winner
——–

New England Patriots – Does anything else even need to be said? This is the best team in the league, bar none, and they prove it each and every week. They toyed with the Cowboys, and you can count that game as test one down, two to go. If the Colts in November or the Steelers in December can’t get it done, those fools that cling champagine glasses each year in Miami might finally be shut up.

Loser
——-

Cincinnati Bengals – Coming off a bye they still are the same old Bengals: allowing tons of yards on defense and making critical mistakes on offense. They let TE Tony Gonzalez run free all afternoon, and after taking a 7-3 lead allowed the Chiefs to outscore them 17-3 to end the first half in a 20-7 hole. The Bengals have dropped 4 straight, and are 1-7 since being 8-5 a year ago. Could Marvin Lewis be on the hot seat if this thing doesn’t get turned around?
