Bears Gab Editor Russ Loede’s Week 6 NFL Picks

Chargers linebacker Matt Wilhelm, right, reaches out to tackle Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall

8-6 (32-39-5)

Cincy (-3) over K.C.
Bengals get the help of a bye week benefit and match the # of points scored against them in Week 5.

Jax. (-7) over Hou.
Jags defense is stout and Texans don’t have playmakers like Drew to beat ’em.

Mia. (+5) over Cleve.
Dolphins “fish” for their first victory on the road and Ronnie Brown goes bananas all over the 30th ranked defense vs. the run.

Chi. (-6) over Minn.
Bears have won last six at home in Soldier Field against Vikes and make it 7 because of a revived team that’s playing with a renewed hunger and thirst to regain last year’s “super” form, as they have lots of heart and some momentum carrying over from Sunday Nite’s great victory going into this game, and now the defense is getting healthier ~ on top of all that.

Philly (-3.5) over NYJ
I put more faith and trust into the Eagles than the Jets right now at this given moment and point of the season, plus Philly’s coming off a bye, not an embarassing loss last week.

Balt. (-10) over STL.
Call it what you want, but call it, this game will be a Ravens win, that’s for the frist time this year – a decisive result/outcome.

Tenn. (+3) over T.B.
My “Best Bet for OT” as this is a “classic push” game, so I’m going with the team that has a better defense and running game – Titans to improve to 4-1.

Wsh. (+3) over G.B.
I’ll go with the team coming off a valiant performance and 31-point win and take ’em riding the big momentum swing, as opposed to a team that got handed their first loss at home in a tough one to lose, as I see Washington moving on for bigger and better things, moving toward contender status – ‘Skins outplay, outhustle, and outcoach/smart the Pack and hand it to ’em in the trenches on defense, running the ball, and in the red zone for better efficiency.

Car. (+4.5) over Arz.
Panthers showed me a tough, gutsy win last week and Arizona has lost their stride/step on defense a little bit, as it well show against Carr, Smith, and DeAngelo Williams, watch out for defensive standouts Julius Peppers and Thomas Davis.

Patriots (-6.5) over Dallas
Patriots and Tom Brady are too good for Dallas on defense and the N.E. defensive unit will make sure ‘boys offensive squad stays in a “funk”.  This game will not be as close as many may point it out to be – wrong again, experts, no “Duel in Dallas”!

Oak. (+10) over S.D.
Raiders come off of a bye week fresh, ready, and prepared for the Bolts, and Culpepper helps keep this game close at the end, while the defense led by Kirk Morrison, catapults a loaded effort and “springed” performance for the Silver ‘n’ Black.  This will be the Game of the Week, so look out for a heated battle up front, with lots of big hitting goin’ on in Cali, for this rivalry to see who’s the best of the “Left Coast”.

N.O. (+7) over Sea.
Saints heading south and packing up their bags, looking ahead for a high draft choice to be selected in next April’s NFL Draft, scouts are watching the college games this weekend with a close eye on top potential prospects for the the Big Easy…?  Not so fast my friend, as my favorite and personal colleague/pal of mine Lee Corso on College Gameday says, Brees, Bush, and Coach Payton and Co. are not goin’ to go down to easy, as they will upset Seattle because of a more concentrated effort to open up the playbook and mix up the passes that led to success, just not so long ago.

N.Y. over (3.5) Atl.
Monday Nite games are tricky to pick (ex. Buffalo Bills +10), but for this one here, not a chance, take the Giants with an easy pick in the prime time limelight (4 in a row) – for Burress, Jacobs, Manning, and friends.
