According to sources and as reported by Chris Mortensen of ESPN on Monday, former Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots running back Corey Dillon declined an offer by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to join their running back mix. Dillon’s agent, Steve Feldman, confirmed that the Bucs contacted him before the end of the Buccaneers-Carolina Panthers game.
Feldman then text-messaged Dillon, asking if he had an interest in joining the Buccaneers; “No” was the text reply given back to Feldman. Dillon was released by the Patriots during the offseason and at that time, he stated that he was done playing, although he has not yet formally filed retirement papers through the league office. Even if Dillon had filed the appropriate paperwork in order to get his severance pay, he would still have the option of returning to the football field.
