The Arizona Cardinals and Baltimore Ravens provide stark contrasts; the Cardinals are an offensive-minded team while the Ravens’ defense is their calling card. However, the Ravens offensive line will be put to the test on Sunday as the Ravens offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden and quarterback Steve McNair hope to play against the Cardinals. Ogden is battling a nagging toe injury while McNair is trying to overcome a groin injury.
If Ogden isn’t available for Sunday, reserve Adam Terry will take his spot; the same can be said for McNair. Should McNair remain out, reserve QB Kyle Boller will replace him on Sunday. Boller passed efficiently against the New York Jets, going 23-for-35 for 185 yards and two touchdowns. Ravens running back Willis McGahee is having a strong year so far (45 carries, 174 yards) as the team’s featured back. But as previously mentioned, the Ravens’ strong suit is their defense, which will be without defensive end Trevor Pryce for at least this week; Pryce is suffering from a broken wrist whcih received surgery on Monday. 4th-year player Dwan Edwards will cover for Pryce in the meantime.
The Cardinals will most likely rely on RB Edgerrin James and his legs to realize a victory in Baltimore. James is having a strong campaign so far (220 yards and 2 TD’s) and hopes to continue on that path this weekend. I can envision that despite James having a decent game, the Ravens’ defense will overwhelm Cardinals QB Matt Leinart this weekend and win a close one.
