Week One proved to be a nightmare for the New Orleans Saints, in losing to the Super bowl champion Indianapolis Colts 41-10 at the RCA Dome. The Saints, after halftime, allowed the Colts to score 31 unanswered points in the loss. The Saints were held to 293 total yards in total offense; they hope to overcome that hiccup when they face the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers look to even their record at 1-1 after a loss to the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday.
The Saints foursome of quarterback Drew Brees, wide receiver Marques Colston and running backs Reggie Bush and Deuce McAllister will look to overwhelm the Saints with a much better effort than they provided in Week 1. The Saints have a RB issue to solve as it looks like RB Caddilac Williams may not play htis weekend; assuming that’s the case, expect Michael Pittman and perhaps fellow RB’s Earnest Askew and B.J. Askew to share the load. Bucs QB Jeff Garcia will no doubt need to get WR Joey Galloway involved as well as the passing attack will probably be very busy.
I expect the Saints offense to overwhelm both the Bucs’ secondary and O-line in what should be a rout in Tampa. Garcia should put up some respectable numbers, but it will not be nearly enough to bring the Bucs their first win of the season.
