Bad luck visited the Browns training camp on Tuesday as Browns offensive lineman Eric Steinbach fell on his right knee during practice and could possibly miss up to two weeks of camp. Browns head coach Romeo Crennel told Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer that, “We’re having it evaluated. We were inside on the turf and he came down on the knee. I would say he bruised it, but I haven’t looked at it, and I’m not the doctor, so I don’t know.”
Although the injury does not appear to be serious in nature, I’m sure the Browns were holding their breath as they signed Steinbach to a huge contract this offseason. In the meantime, reserve guard/center Lennie Friedman will take the majority of snaps for now and more than likely will start against the Kansas city Chiefs, assuming that Steinbach is not ready by then. One can only hope that Steinbach’s injury is nothing more than a tweak of the knee, as opposed to a sprain or worse.
