As was reported here at NFL GRIDIRON GAB earlier this week, the Browns and quarterback Brady Quinn were progressing towards getting a deal hammered out. Well folks, the suspense is over. Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports that the Browns have signed Quinn to a five-year deal; it was agreed to this morning but has not yet been signed as of yet. The two sides are finalizing the final details of the contract, but Quinn was en route to Cleveland to join his teammates today. NFL Network is reporting the deal is for five years at $20.2 million, with$7.75 mil guaranteed.
This is obviously great news for the Browns as their QB situation was unsettled while these negotiations were going on. As it was, the Browns, as mandated by the NFL, had to submit a depth chart, listing Charlie Frye as the #1 QB, followed by Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn. I suspect that will change in the near future as Quinn will gradually get the majority of the snaps in training camp once he is comfortable with the Browns’ offensive playbook.
Quinn had, prior to the deal being agreed to, been working out at Athletes Performance Institute in Arizona, and had previously stated that he was hoping that this holdout would end very soon. Well Brady got his wish so Browns training camp should get interesting, to say the least. Assuming Quinn gets up to speed at camp, I expect the QB depth chart in Cleveland to be as follows: 1) Frye 2) Quinn 3) Anderson
