The Browns/Brady Quinn saga appears to be in somewhat of a holding pattern as both sides are still at a contract impasse. The former Notre Dame quarterback is currently training in Arizona while this mess sorts itself out. Browns general manager Dennis Savage told the Cleveland Plain Dealer on Sunday that both sides are “right there” on certain issues but haven’t been able to nail it down just yet.
A unnamed source (which means what?) was quoted as saying that Quinn has been working out, is in great shape, and should be ready to go when and if his contract situation is finalized. Tom Condon, Quinn’s agent, as usual declined comment. But he has said on more than one occasion that Quinn should receive a premium on his contract despite being selected the #22 overall pick. As i stated before here at NFL GRIDIRON GAB, I question Quinn’s motives in not getting this contract issue resolved. It appears that he is incredibly naive about pro football contract issues; after all his agent is Tom Condon.
It also seems to me that he is Condon’s puppet in this mess. Brady if you’re the bright, intelligent individual that you claim to be, then perhaps you need to “man-up” and expedite this process as not only are you missing valuable training camp time, you may also be fined. And the clock is slowly ticking. Don’t get me wrong, Quinn is an above-average QB; but a premium attached to him just because he is a QB and at the #22 overall pick at that? You’ve got to be kidding. Bottom line here – Quinn needs to get proactive if he expects to get into Browns training camp in a short amount of time.
