Has Rams quarterback Mark Bulger laid the groundwork for a possible holdout summer from training camp? A holdout is possible, as everyone knows that Bulger and the Rams are still talking about a long term deal. Now though, Bulger himself for the first time in awhile is talking, and for the first time the term “holdout” has been spoken.
Bulger was a guest on Sirius NFL Radio Tuesday, and when asked about not reporting, did say that he would not rule out a holdout if a new extension did not get done by then. The two sides have been talking for sometime, and there has been numerous discussions about what a quarterback like Bulger is worth.
All along the Rams have said that they are bent on getting a deal done with the 30-year-old QB, who last season threw for 4301 yards, 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Last season was the first time that Bulger played in all 16 games, and he had 8 300-yard games last year.
Bulger does deserve a new deal, as this season he is making $4.77 million this season in the last year of his deal. As far as how much he deserves, that is up to what Rams think he is worth in the long run. In terms of a holdout, the only people in the longrun that would hurt both parties, which is why this needs to get settled soon.
