Rosenhus Speaking Out for Portis’ Foolish Comments

More of the damage control is now coming out about Clinton Portis and the just stupid comments he made a few days back about Michael Vick and how owning dogs and using them to fight other dogs is okay.  Now, with Portis being smeared every which way but loose, his agent has stepped in to try and soothe tensions.

Drew Rosenhus, the agent for Portis and plenty of other big name NFL stars, has come out in defense of client.  Speaking to the AP, Drew stated that Portis felt bad about what was said in the interview earlier this week.  “He said, ‘Drew, I didn’t mean for the way that came out. All I was saying, I wasn’t condoning dog fighting. I wasn’t condoning Michael Vick’s conduct. All I was saying is that people should give him the benefit of the doubt until he’s been charged or found guilty,” Rosenhaus said.

Portis was way out of line with his comments, and while linemen Chris Samuels came out and already said his sorries about the comments he made in the same interview, Portis has yet to speak publicy about the mis-comments.  As for Rosenhus, he knows that his client can lose big time money with comments like what he said, which is why he’s now out there telling people what a good guy Portis really is.

“I like the fact that Clinton stood up for another athlete, but I want to clarify that he in no way, shape or form condones dog fighting or any type of illegal activity,” Rosenhaus said. “I spent the last day or so with Clinton trying to get that message out.”  Drew is no stranger to dealing with players that don’t know when to be quiet.  His client list includes such mouths as Terrell Owens, Warren Sapp and Jeremy Shockey.  This rash of comments like Portis made though might take the cake as some of the most out of line that have been made in sometime.  Now it’s up to Drew to work his magic to try and calm the feelings of those that are outraged about Portis’ comments.
