Doing an about face, possibly due to the backlash by even his own fans, Packers QB Brett Favre now says he will be at the teams mandatory mini-camp this weekend. The story of the week around the league is how Favre, who reportedly was so upset with the team recently about not trading for Randy Moss that he demanded a trade, was going to miss the camp to rehab his ankle and stay home to assist in plans for his daughter’s upcoming graduation.
While Favre is not going to be able to practice, by all means it is his place to be at the camp. His daughter’s graduation is not until next weekend, and who in their right mind believes that Favre is running around buying party hats and balloons for his little girl’s graduation party? What, no one else but Brett can hit Party City and grab some decorations for the big upcoming celebration of his daughter graduating high school? If nothing else, it just should prove to the Packers they had better think long and hard about that rebuilding process that is going to take place once Favre does decide to hang it up.
Brett claimed that the call to not be at the camp had nothing to do with the whole Randy Moss trade fiasco that has Packers fans screaming about their franchise player wanting a trade. Favre, realizing the backlash he was getting for his ill advised comments, quickly told anyone that would listen that he never wanted to be traded, and that there is no doubt that he wants to end his NFL career in the green of Green Bay. Now with more backlash about not being at the camp piling up, Favre has once again done a 180 and now says he’ll be there.
Make up your mind Brett, either be committed to your team and more importantly, your fans, or stay at home and make potato salad for your daughter’s graduation party. While the ongoing back and forth with Favre is fun to watch, the changing of the mind day after day is getting a little old.
