Can one wonder if Michael Vick is headed down the road of destruction? First we have the whole incident where he tosses out a water bottle at an airport in Miami that authorities want to take a gander at. Vick had a hiding spot in the bottle, and authorities thought they were seeing some sort of illegal substance (IE – Pot) in the hiding spot of the bottle. It took awhile, but Vick finally was deemed innocent for the bottle. Then there was the whole finger flipping incident in his own home stadium last year that didn’t excatly show up on the cover of the Falcons Chirstmas cards.
Then of course there was the failure to show up for scheduled appearance on Capital Hill for after-school funding, yet another black eye for the QB and the Falcons organization. Now comes the worst of them all - Vick being linked to a website that promotes dog breeding for animals that could be used for dog fighting. Vick’s name came out on Thursday linked to the website www.vicksk9kennels.com. The site sold dogs from pit bulls to the “intelligent and powerful Presa Canario.”
The address for the Kennel was listed as the same one that police raided last week and found dozens of dogs, some injured and emaciated. They also found items that went along with dog fighting – such as tools to pry apart a dog’s jaw. Of course Vick’s excuse - I’ve never been to the house -my cousin lives there.
Yes Michael, you and your line of excuses are at it again. First an excuse for the finger, then one for the water bottle, now it’s the old – “I’ve never been to that house.” I mean, is anyone in Atlanta just a bit worried that they traded away the wrong quarterback? Vick has had more freedom with that team since he joined them, including just being an out and out average player on most NFL Sundays while the team and fan base treats him like a mulit-time Super Bowl QB.
The team and GM Rich McKay stated that more would be looked into when it came to the Vick incident, and yet we still have not heard from him about anything that Vick may or may not be involved in. So once again it appears that the upper brass in the Falcons organization are once again, like they always have, ready to give Vick a free pass. As long as Vick gets these free rides time after time, the Falcons will never be a Super Bowl team – mark it down. As for Vick, I hope the league finally steps in and takes a look at all the things that he gets away with. He is clearly not the role model that he is made out to be, and the league should think about that the next time they are ready again to put him on a pedsteal.
