Now that Dante Culpepper is basically on his way out in Miami, you can bet that the Dolphins are going to do whatever it takes to get the Trent Green deal done by the end of this week. The Dolphins are in dire straits after getting a weekend minicamp done in which they quickly realized that they have no real quarterabck. Culpepper continues to try and come back from a knee injury, and he didn’t take a snap over the weekend. Sources say that he will be released once the Green deal gets done.
The Chiefs had been trying to hold out for a second round draft choice from the Dolphins, and the fish wanted all along to give KC a number three. Now that they are in a tough spot, the Dolphins may be forced to give up that number two that they really wanted to hang on to. Right now the only quarterbacks that took snaps over the weekend for the Dolphis were Cleo Lemon and Gibran Hamdan. In other words, Miami has no choice but to try and get something done, and Green is clearly the guy they want.
The 36-year-old Green has been the apple of the Dolphins’ eye’s for sometime, and now that they know they have no QB that can lead them, they are going to have to give up more than they want for his services. Let’s face it, the Dolphins want Green, Green wants to go to Miami, and now its just a matter of making it happen. And trust me, it will happen sooner than later.
