Here are some quick hitters as we get set for action in less than 4 hours in week 5:
** Daunte Culpepper will NOT start today against the Pats, and I think that is the right decision. Nick Saban is watching his team go down the toilet five weeks into the season, and Culpepper’s lackluster play has been a big reason why. There is no doubt he is not 100 percent, and while Joey Harrington is not going to come in like Kurt Warner in 1999 with the Rams, this is the right move for right now. We’ll see what the Pats have in store for Harrington today in New England.
** Steelers backup CB Ricardo Colclough has been placed on the IR with a neck injury. Odd that the injury, which Bill Cowher said happened during the teams recent bye week, comes just one week after he basically cost the Steelers the game vs the Bengals with a fumbled punt. Can you put two and two together? Hmmm. Just odd that this went down like that, and the fact that he was not hurt after the Bengals game. At least there was no word about any injury.
** No Gary Baxter as the Browns take on the Panthers today, and that means Steve Smith is sure to have a huge day. The Panthers have weathered the storm without Smith, and now with him they are looking to go over .500. The Browns had a nice win against the Raiders a week ago, but this is not the Raiders they take on today in Carolina.
