Now that [tag]Ashley Lelie[/tag] is a member of the [tag]Atlanta Falcons[/tag], that leaves all but one player holding out of his teams camp – Wide out [tag]Deion Branch[/tag]. Branch and the New Engalnd Pats have been at a standstill for sometime, as he is currently under contract but is refusing to report until he gets a new deal. Branch, who was the MVP of Superbowl 39, came out recently and said that “everything is going to work out.” Huh? Deion – did you just see the route that the Broncos took with another receiver that didn’t feel like reporting? He was shipped out of town.
Now I don’t think that is the route that the Pats want to go with Branch, but with [tag]Bill Belichick[/tag] and the rest of the crew determined to move on with him, Branch may have to make a decision on what he is going to do soon. New England will have all the leverage if they get off to a good start, and Branch is sitting on his hands at home watching them jump out to a 2-0, 3-1 type of start.
Branch had better take control of this situation, as he already missed camp and the preseason as a whole for the most part. The total amount for skipping training camp and the preseason games will be a reported $420,000. Agent Jason Chayut is also to blame on this whole situation, as he is another voice that is telling Branch to sit at home and wait out the situation. Pretty soon Branch is going to be a player without a team. I have never seen one of these situations end in the favor of the player, and my bet is this one won’t either.
