Was in the media mass with Jon Kitna postgame on Friday night, and he seems awfully confident that he and the Lions are going to be a solid team this year. Despite an offense that was somewhat off on Friday night, and not able to run the football much against the Browns 3-4 defense, he said that he thought they would be “okay.” We shall see.
As far as the Browns go, I am still concerned that Charlie Frye is going to have trouble adjusting from being a everydown NFL starter at QB. He was 8 for 11 for 41 yards on Friday, and had a touchdown, a bad pick in triple coverage, and he fumbled once as well. As far as the fumble goes, word is he has small hands for a NFL QB, and that is why he has trouble holding the ball.
Both these teams are 6-10, 7-9 type of teams that can be better if they get some breaks. I personally think with Kitna and Kevin Jones, the Lions are a bit better in the skill department, and with a weaker NFC North, can make a bit more noise than the Browns in 2006.
