It’s not the “Love Boat” but the Vikings 2006 has already had its first distraction, albeit a small one. Wide out Koren Robinson was arrested near training camp on Tuesday night for suspicion of drunken driving. If this was a one-time thing, it might now mean as much, but it was just last year that Robinson spent 28 days in an alcohol treatment facility last year after being cut by the Seahawks. He also already has had a a four-game suspension in 2004 for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy. This is a problem for the Vikings on more than one level…they already mentally know that 2005 was a nightmare for all the off the field distractions, and don’t want the same for 06, and on another level, they were looking at Robinson as a player that they could count on for the season to make some plays. Take week 13 last year when he caught 4 passes for 148 yards. Of course overall, just 22 catches isn’t worth the headache, but for now, the Vikigns will ride this out and see what happens.
